VCC Representatives discuss tobacco types and current legislation.
Vista Community Clinic (VCC) Program Supervisor AuShaunnalyn and Engagement Coordinator MacKenzie Little discussed standard cigarettes, current vapes with e-juice ,and oral nicotine packets like ZYN.
All of them result in some level of addition, chemicals and potential cancers. The FDA does not regulate these items but laws are in place to limit usage and shield sensitive people from second-hand smoke.
- Multi-family residential properties have lease provisions prohibiting tobacco usage.
- All tobacco products, including e-cigarettes, cannot be used on school district property
- Workplaces manage a tobacco-free policy to protect workers from second-hand smoke.
- San Diego County has smoke-free beaches, parks, and public spaces.
Nevertheless --- even in our Fallbrook -- VCC sampling has found tobacco waste in our town!
