Rotarians collaborated on Odd Fellows Cemetery's Eagle Scout project.

One of this year’s grant projects generated an upgraded kiosk, benches and lighted flag at the Odd Fellows Community Cemetery. Our club wanted to contribute to the cemetery — the resting place of many pioneers who formed Fallbrook, California. After a requirements assessment with the current cemetery’s owners, Masonic Lodge #137, we learned the needs of the area.

The kiosk became the largest part of the project. It required collaboration with Boy Scout Troop 731 chartered at St. Peters Catholic Church within District San Luis Rey. Thus, the troop put us in touch with Boy Scout AJ Betancourt who wanted to complete his eagle project. Rotarians Don and Jen Weeks met with AJ and his parents, and the project was underway! Here are a few photos!

Working hard getting the project started!

Here are the results with a well-lighted flag, beautifully renovated benches at the flag's intersection, and a fine new kiosk. Rotarian George Archibald, an Odd Fellow's Community neighbor, enjoys viewing the upgrades from his back-yard patio. Yes, this lucky Rotarian does live right by a fine cemetery!
