Executive Director Shae Gawlak presents at our first In-Person meeting at 127 West with a Zoom pilot.

Executive Director Shae Gawlak told Rotarians about the changes in the community’s food bank after the lockdown. There were 2200 more requests than usual. People who needed three meals a week now needed 10 meals. Formerly a market-style layout, it was a touchless service providing food bags at a service window.

Many organizations pitched in providing food and volunteers. Restaurants donated left over food. The schools, who provided children’s lunches, offered their surplus. Fallbrook Regional Health had additional food and offered to wash produce. The Boys and Girls club had daycare personnel that became drivers. The Farmers & Families Bill  resulted in unsold food going to food banks. Volunteers are still needed!

The Fallbrook Food Pantry will have an “Endless Summer event: a traditional golf tournament at the Pala Mesa Resort in Fallbrook CA on Friday August 21st. There will be an online auction. There are personalized "ZOOM" dinner parties available. A Zoom test run showed how a hot spot with a laptop can keep others informed if they don't attend onsite. Rotarians Don and Jen Weeks grin for the camera while Kathye smiles from home.

It felt good to see the Rotary Banner at 127 West Social House again.
