Carole Hodges teaches Miss & Teen Fallbrook Pageant Contestants.

The Fallbrook Village Toastmasters President Hodges explained that effective speaking showed leadership potential and required getting outside of your comfort zone. She asked each contestant why they wanted to become Miss or Teen Fallbrook.  Contestants shared they wanted to be confident, show good posture by standing tall, obtain public speaking skills or strived to meet mom’s expectations.

Contestant #13 Kassi Ewig took notes regarding the elements of effective speaking: Body Language, Vocal Variety, Use of Language, Organization, and Purpose.

During the one-minute impromptu speeches, Village Toastmasters’ Paul Schumann explained the importance of having steady hands to Contestant #2 Miaya Khoury.  Rotarian Don Weeks handled timekeeper duties while Rotarian Jen Weeks took photos. This Saturday, the contestants will deliver their five-to-seven minute icebreaker speeches.

Everyone is excited to see our contestants prepare for the scholarship pageant on Saturday, July 9th at the Bob Burton Performing Arts Center.
